Bombyliidae  

Of the fifteen subfamilies of Bombyliidae recognised by Yeates (1994), six; Oligodraninae, Lordotinae, Heterotropinae, Crocidiinae, Mariobezziinae, Oniromyiinae, have no described representatives in Australia. In the remaining nine subfamilies 336 species have been described from Australia (Evenhuis and Greathead 1999).
