Larrpana Lambkin & Yeates
Wing pattern dimidiate, dark basally, hyaline apically; infuscation forming a distinctly separated, basal triangle leaving the apex of the posterior cubital and anal cells broadly hyaline. Cream laterothoracic stripes, white scale bands on T3, sparse white scales on T6-7. Epandrial basolateral flange longer and broader than the length of the epandrial base. Gonocoxae deeply narrowed medially, tufts of thickened setae on distinct ventral flange that projects basally; EP with rounded, projecting, lateral lobes; short, wedge-shaped AAES; EJA long. Sperm pump long with unpigmented papillae, collar or clear ring surrounding join between BB and thick-walled round SR.
Head. Large, narrower than thorax, globular, loosely attached to thorax, anterior surface sloping to long, strongly concave, bilobed, medially divided occiput; occipital foveal depression deep, wide, following the posterior margin of the eyes laterally. Face protruding conically; frons with shallow horizontal depression. Proboscis stout, protruding slightly from oral cavity; genae with shallow narrow groove. Antenna close to compound eye, distance less than length of scape, scape more than 2 x length of pedicel, PP long, more than 3 x length of pedicel, conical, with broad base narrowing apically, distinct joint between PP and BSM; BSM long, more than 2 x length of pedicel, cylindrical, apically expanded, with small conical ASM. Posterior margin of compound eyes broadly indented; horizontal line dividing facets of compound eye extending forward from indentation more than 2 x length of OT.
Thorax. Collar yellow, PR and PA bristles well developed, cream laterothoracic stripe. Midstyle Ma present in collar, on PN, PE, AN, LT, and T1. Forelegs reduced; forecoxae with long, dense, apically-directed setae, fore-tarsi with straight, apically bulbous microchaetae; foreclaws reduced, claws with reduced cone-like pulvilli; hind-tibial spicules in small apical patch on the posterior surface. Wings long, more than 2 x length of abdomen. Venation with i-r1 slightly sinuous, i-r2 absent; m-m crossvein short, less than 2 x length of the r-m crossvein; m-cu crossvein sinuous with 90˚ bend basally, anal cell narrowly open. Wing pattern dimidiate, dark basally, hyaline apically; infuscation forming a distinct, linearly separated, basal triangle leaving the apex of cup and anal cells broadly hyaline; either no, minute, or small medial lobes, that may be narrowed medially to form an isolated dark spot on the wing.
Abdomen. Broad, dorsoventrally flattened, with tufts of dense setae laterally; white scale band on T3, sparse white scales on T6-7. Male. Epandrial basolateral flange longer and broader than the length of the epandrial base. Gonocoxae deeply narrowed medially, tufts of thickened setae on distinct ventral flange that projects basally; rami well developed, medially expanded, and recurved; H present, GA small, AE short; EP with rounded, projecting lateral lobes; LAEA large, convex; short, wedge-shaped AAES, not reaching G margin; EJA racquet-shaped, very long, extending beyond the G margin; GS appear bifid in lateral view, broad base projecting apically. Female with 4 pairs of long apically tapering AC spines; T8 with dorsal apodeme. Sperm pump short with short processes basally and apically, long unpigmented papillae medially, simple apical endplate, basal endplate with circlet of thick tapering processes. Long, deeply striated collar or clear ring surrounding join between BB and thick-walled round SR; SR may bear an apical extension.
